Setup IAC Driver Bus
Introduction
To send MIDI between applications, we must setup an Inter-Application Communication (IAC) Bus. Think of this as a virtual MIDI cable to connect applications.
Setup macOS
Apple's Audio MIDI Setup app allows you to create virtual MIDI ports between applications.

Open Audio MIDI Setup
Applications > Utilities > Open Audio MIDI Setup.

Window > Show MIDI Studio ( ⌘2 )

Double-click 'IAC Driver'

Check 'Device is Online'

Ports > Press (+) to add a port.

Click 'Apply'
Now we have created a virtual MIDI device to send/recieve MIDI messages.

Create a MIDI Port
For this example, we will name it IAC Driver Bus 1

Press (+) to add the port
Now you have a MIDI bus to communicate between applications.

Now you have a MIDI bus to communicate between applications.
